I don’t like this at all.
I don’t feel like taking the time to completely debunk it.
This, first and foremost, places the blame on black men entirely, which is unfair.
It also robs black womyn, essentially saying they cannot properly raise a child without a man.
It implies that misogyny within our community (“WOMEN IS HOES AND BITCHES!”) is the product of fatherless homes. Black men, whether absent or not from the household, have misogyny issues. Having a father wouldn’t necessarily do away with that. Black men could be teaching their children to hate womyn all the same.
The issues with education in our community is not single-story. There are SO many problems with education in relation to us. Firstly, the education system is not set up to educate black pupils. It is not. It is to educate anyone withing to work for the white patriarchy system. Second, it is not built for us to have proper access to it. We live in poorer communities as is. Schools zoned to these areas have more crammed classes, less qualified teachers, students are cast aside before they even get the full chance. Private education after college has a ticket price far too grand for the lot of us, without the trust funds and social freedom of our white counterparts, to be able to afford without problem. We are boxed all the way out of an education system that already denies our history and won’t teach us a damn thing that won’t profit the white patriarchy. The sentiment against education in our community is very, very, very complicated.
The only thing wrong with the kind of rhetoric B.E.T displays comes in term of misogyny, racism, homophobia, etc. These are problematics that turn me off to B.E.T. But the kind of thing the “bourgie” black echelon turn their noses up to, ebonics, “hoodrat” slang/accents, the black American sense of style, “ghetto” names, these are things we are taught to think are crass simply because they are associated with us. There are many other accents that come with other hyphenated American identities, but ours are the most vilified.
As for jail, we are criminalized and demonized at alarming rates. Just like more white people smoke weed than black people, yet we are jailed for it more than twice the amount, we are “suspicious” on site. We get longer sentences for the same crimes. We are thrown into jails on whims. And often times, I’m sure people go in for crimes committed out of necessity, out of being deprived by our society. I don’t think people who sell drugs, for instance, do it for funzies. We often don’t have much option, we simply don’t. Schools fail us at large as is. People don’t steal for fun, they do it because they needed to.
Anyway. This image is ridiculous. Don’t use this shit to combat your daddy issues, just, don’t.

We love demonizing mothers instead d battling the legislative and systemic barriers single mothers and poor families have to fight through. It’s so much easier thinking that black culture is inherently flawed an hopeless right?

I can’t help but laugh at the stupidity of this drawing. lol
