TUMBLRBOMB THE HELL OUT OF THIS. Trans* people deserve to be protected by the law. IT IS DISGRACEFUL that in 2011, people are fired for being trans*. In two seconds flat, they go from being a star employee to being someone who “doesn’t fit with the company”. This is wrong, and it needs to stop.
If you haven’t read by now, I was fired from my job yesterday for being transgender. It was perfectly legal for them to do so. I do not have legal rights to do anything about it - my hands are tied. But you can help by getting the word out to lawmakers that this affects the lives of real people who deserve the same rights as everyone else. Equal rights for our gay counterparts, while wonderful, is not “good enough”.
“I found there’s a lot of power in prayer. So, I pray for the people who don’t understand me. And I pray more now to understand than to be understood. I pray now to learn how to love than be loved. Because God gave me an abundance.”—Lauryn Hill, at age 25 (via withinsight-motivation)
"Ladies, you need to understand that as long as you got a vagina, you run the entire motherfucking Universe. That’s the way it is. You need to understand that. Ladies, I’m telling you. You gotta be the shit to you. Stop waitin on a man to verify whether you the shit or not. Bitch, if you the shit; you the motherfucking shit" -Kat Williams
Well, it looks like this year could get a whole hell of a lot better in terms of hip-hop releases. The Roots’ Questlove took to his Twitter account last night to announce that his band is now working on their thirteenth album, Undun. We don’t know much else beyond its name and the music heard in a preview video, which you can view after the jump. But if last year’s How I Got Over was any indication, the Legendary clearly haven’t lost a step while killin’ it every night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
This, I cannot wait for. My favorite group of all time and one that has been around this long and hasn’t sacrificed their integrity and their music for the industry.
